Grew Up Near Ohtani & Played Baseball for 10 Years: Why I Joined Japan Sports Ticket

Nice to meet you! I’m Ryouma Okubo. I was born and raised in Hokkaido and played baseball from the age of 5 to 16. I grew up near the hometown of Shohei Ohtani, who is currently making waves on the global stage. I’m truly thrilled to see growing international interest in Japanese sports thanks to players like him!

Currently, I live in Kyoto for university, and while attending school, I help Ryu with his business to support international sports fans. The one on the right is me when I was 14 years old. I always played as the starting catcher and lead-off hitter.

Why I Want You to Experience Japanese Sports

When people visit Japan, I really want them to experience not only our traditional culture and amazing food, but also the vibrant energy of Japanese sports.

However, buying sports tickets in Japan isn't very friendly for international travelers—it often requires complex registrations or rejects foreign credit cards.

My Unforgettable Experience at Koshien Stadium

The photo above is from October 17, 2025, when Ryu invited me to a playoff game between the Hanshin Tigers and DeNA BayStars at Koshien Stadium! As one of the most exciting playoff games of the year, I was desperate to watch it live at the stadium. However, I lost the intense ticket battle and was deeply disappointed.

That’s when my friend Ryu reached out and invited me to join him! I remember being amazed by his vast network and connections, which allow him to secure even the most elusive tickets. Thanks to Ryu, I experienced a true miracle and got to watch my dream game live—and as you can see in the photo, I was absolutely thrilled!
